Consultation has now ended

September 2007

Consultation lgThe feedback from the recent consultation has been very good, with over 25 responses from a wide-range of stakeholders, including national and international trade bodies and NGOs.

On top of that, CPET have run two consultation exercises with the trade and NGOs. Results of these meetings can be downloaded from the CPET website in the Review & comments section.

The results and recommendations of this consultation will be put forward to Defra in the coming weeks; the CPET news will keep you updated of progress.

The consultation was on the implementation of the timber procurement policy, following the revisions announced by the UK Government in March 2007, as part of its Sustainable Procurement Action Plan:

From 1 April 2009 only timber and timber products originating either from independently verified legal and sustainable sources or from a licensed Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) partner will be demanded for use on the Government estate - appropriate documentation will be required to prove it. From 1 April 2015, only legal and sustainable timber would be demanded
