Bob Andrew retires
August 2007
Bob Andrew of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ Procurement and Contracts Division retired today, Friday 31st August, after 40 years in the Civil Service .
Bob has been a key figure in shaping the Government’s ‘Timber Procurement Policy’ and subsequently in the formation of CPET. He has travelled extensively around the world, promoting the UK’s policy and is widely known in related circles internationally. The UK Government is seen as a leader in the field of responsible timber procurement policies throughout the world, in no small part due to Bob’s commitment and his understanding of the complexities surrounding the subject.
Bob has been a Procurement Policy Adviser in the Defra since the department’s inception in 2001. For the past six years he has been working on how sustainable development policy can be pursued through public procurement. During this time he headed Defra’s Timber Procurement Unit and was Chairman of the UK Government Timber Buyers’ Group.
Bob will be greatly missed by all those who have worked with him and we would like to take this opportunity to wish him every happiness in his retirement.
