Training workshops across the country
Every winter CPET takes our training workshops on the road and come to where you are. This year we have added some cities to the list and will visit all of England’s 9 regions. You will, therefore, this year have plenty of opportunity for getting up to date with the policy and the change coming up.
The government is very keen to ensure implementation of the policy and the workshops are fully funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It is therefore, free for everyone seeking to implement and comply with the government’s timber procurement policy to attend and we will even provide you with lunch and tea/coffee.
It is not, like for central government bodies, mandatory for local authorities to implement the policy, but they are encouraged to do so and very welcome to attend the workshops as well.
The workshops cover responsible purchasing, illegal logging, the UK Government Policy, definitions, the types of evidence that are available and how to check them, as well as topics such as contract conditions and implementation. We work through several case studies to examine the types of evidence available, so as to ensure you are confident in assessing and collecting evidence back in the work place.
Workshops in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are scheduled for February and March. Dates and venues will be posted on the CPET website soon.
Please help us raise awareness of the workshops by passing the dates on to your contacts via your intranet, your journal or by downloading and posting the CPET info sheet on the regional workshops. for more information please see CPET regional workshops 08/09.
