CPET at The Public Procurement Show

28 May 2010

PubProcShow10The Central Point of Expertise on Timber (CPET) will host a stand at The Public Procurement Show at London ExCel on the 15th and 16th June. CPET will be promoting sustainable timber procurement policies in the public sector and will on hand to provide guidance and assistance to all public sector buyers, contractors and suppliers.

The Public Procurement show is one of the biggest of its kind in the UK and plays host to a wide range of exhibitors and a variety of products and services for the public sector. The show forms an important part of CPET’s current work to promote sustainable timber procurement policies in Local Authorities across the UK.
Despite rises in demand for sustainable timber products over the last 3 years, there is still great deal that needs to be done. Through the buying power of the public sector we can have a huge impact on the demand for sustainable timber and encourage sustainable and legal practices at the forest source.

CPET is working with the WWF and the Timber Trade Federation, to encourage Local Authorities to develop a timber procurement policy which is in line with the UK government’s policy. Together we have developed a toolkit and guidance documents which we will distribute at the Public Procurement show.

So please come along to stand C23 in the ExCel exhibition centre in London on the 15th and 16th of June and pay us a visit!
