Ecobuild Update

30 March 2010

ecobuildnicksofie200In our continuing endeavours to raise the awareness of the UK government timber procurement policy, the Central Point of Expertise on Timber hosted a stand at this year’s Ecobuild exhibition.

Ecobuild is the UK’s largest construction exhibition dedicated to sustainable building products and services. Earl’s Court played host to this year’s event, which saw the best and brightest from across the sector come together to display, discuss and debate the latest in sustainable technologies and services.

This year the event included a Timber Works area. Sponsored by the Timber Trade Federation, the Timber Works area was devoted to timber and timber related products and services and aimed to promote and highlight the significance of timber as a sustainable and low carbon building material.

CPET had the great fortune of hosting a stand in this area. CPET staff were available to provide advice and information to public sector buyers and raise awareness of the policy across the timber and construction sectors. The stand was extremely well attended and provided us with a good opportunity to actually meet people implementing the policy on the ground. It also gave us an excellent opportunity to understand the impacts of the policy and to discuss the recent changes in the legality and sustainability criteria.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that attended the stand for their questions and comments and hope that you can visit us again at another of the events that we will be attending across the country. In June 15 – 16  we will be hosting a stand at the Guardian Public Procurement show in Excel in London. And on July 06 – 08 we will be in Bournemouth at the Local Government Association Annual Conference.
