This website provides online information and advice on meeting the UK Government’s Timber Procurement Policy. CPET is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and is operated by ProForest, an independent company with wide experience in responsible purchasing.

Chatham House Release Landmark Study on Illegal Logging

trucklogssabah100Chatham House have released a landmark study examining the efforts in the past decade to control illegal logging in nations that consume, produce and process wood and wood products. The report, titled “Illegal Logging and Related Trade: Indicators of the Global Response” has been written by Sam Lawson and Larry Macfaul,  and assesses the response and progress to illegal logging in 12 countries.  Read more...

PaperworkFollowing changes in the UK Government timber procurement policy and the release of an updated version of the Timber Procurement Advice Note for 2010, CPET have updated their Category B Framework and Guidance Documents. Update on the 2010 Review of FSC and PEFC

files 100The forest certification schemes approved as 'Category A evidence' are reviewed biennially to ensure that they continue to provide evidence of compliance with the UK Government’s timber procurement policy. The 2010 review is ongoing and covers a full review of the schemes: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).  Read more...

 

Upcoming workshops 

Workshop dec 09 100Workshops are held on a regular basis in London. They are free of charge, but participants must register for places. CPET also holds regional workshops throughout the country.  Read our workshop review for 2009 here.

CPET will be running further regional workshops in Winter 2010/11. Locations will include, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cambridge, Exeter and Cardiff.  Further information will be available on the CPET website closer to the time or sign up to the CPET update by emailing cpet@proforest.net.
