Oversight Committee
Recognised technical experts who review any conflict of interest issues
The Oversight Committee is made up of recognised technical experts who meet twice a year to review any conflict of interest issues that have arisen. The members of the Oversight Committee check a sample of the situations to ensure they were dealt with adequately and the findings are provided to CPET and DEFRA.
The members of the committee will provide a short written report either during or immediately after the meeting (within a maximum of 7 days) setting out the committee’s findings on:
- The adequacy of actions taken by CPET to deal with identified potential conflicts of interest.
- The extent to which complaints or concerns from third parties are justified and the actions taken by CPET to resolve justified complaints. In addition, any further actions by CPET or Defra which are recommended should be noted. However, the committee has only an advisory role – all responsibility remains with CPET and Defra.
- The review of the random sample of CPET work.
Any other issues the committee considers relevant may also be included.
A copy of the report, normally as an attachment to an email, will be provided to CPET and to Defra.
