CPET activities

Very happy New Year to all our CPET contacts, we hope you have made it well into 2012.

3 March 2013 - the date when the EU Timber Regulation comes in to force - is getting closer. If you are an Operator ‘placing timber or timber products on the EU market’ and have not already conducting due diligence to exclude illegally harvested timber from your purchases, now is the time to move!

The Member States FLEGT Committee held a meeting in end December in Brussels which focused on the more detailed rules necessary to ensure a uniform implementation of the EU Timber Regulation. CPET is following the latest updates from Brussels and the UK Government closely to ensure that we provide the most accurate and up-to-date advice. The end of last year was busy with a number of WWF-funded CPET workshops across the country in Mid-Sussex, Andover, Cardiff, North Wales, Belfast and Manchester. Thank you to all the attendees and to the organisations and local authorities who hosted the workshops. The next workshop is scheduled for 3 February in London and we encourage you to sign up. Another workshop to be held in Sheffield is in the pipeline. Please find further information here and do pass the invitation on to colleagues and contacts as there are still some spaces.
